They've known each other since preschool, and have helped to instill a sense of wonder, ambition, adventure, and humor in Austin. If the zombie apocalypse happens, what better people to roam the Earth with. I mean, who's gonna handle all the puns and jokes? Dylan! Who's gonna build us a fort out of a handful of pebbles and a stick? Jesse? Who's gonna distract the zombies from eating the crew with their fresh good looks ? Max! Who's gonna entertain you with their sweet dance moves that involve some variation of "The Robot"? Daniel! All-in-all, these are some of the best people you'll ever meet!
Alternative text: Kaira Ba Brothers- Diali Cissohko, Jonathan Henderson, Will Ridenour and Jon Westmorland comprise a beautiful West-African dance group that rocks all over the world! They not only created blissful music for the ears but lifelong friendships that share a special connection within one another. They have traveled and toured all over the US and parts of Africa. Diali and Hillary Cissokho have born their first bebe, Abdulye Cissokho this year. Jonathan (Abdul Aziz) recently purchase his first home in Durham, NC, Jon (Alhadji) is an avid community spirit, dancer and traveler and Will (Funkle, Honey, Zumana, Ousman) makes djembes and koras, and will make a music lover out of anyone. Will has also lived with Austin and Lia for 3 years and has born a special place in both of their hearts.
Alternative text: The Bros- Shannon Parks, Sawyer Chipley and Greg Stamper are all brothers of Austin and Lia in one form or antoher. Shannon is Lia’s brother and is under contract for his first house with girlfriend Tara in Durham, NC. Sawyer is Lia’s step-brother who attends Appalachain state with girlfriend Tristan, and Greg (whos first name is actually Austin- weird) is Austin’s Step brother who moved back to the states from Japan with his wife, Siayka. They currently live in Durham, NC.

Alternative text: Alex Carter, aka Ace, is one of Lia’s closest friends from waaaay back, like Kindergarten waaaay back. They survived elementary, middle, high-school and college with only minor scratches. After college Lia was able to backpack around Europe with Ace and meet and stay with some of his extended family! Over the past few years Ace and Austin have become good com-padres and shared passions over art, music, arrowheads, primitive skills, archery, metalsmithing, hiking, LAUGHING and on and on. Alex is an extremely talented artist, forester and animal whisperer and we love him like a true brother.
Alternative text: Ashley Blaine Green aka Ash is my sister from another mother, and she definitely got the good hair. :) I met Ash through Dani as she is her younger sister. She also lived in Pelican shores the year after us, which I visited frequently. There was a lot of 80's happening in that time span. Ashley is superhero brilliant and probably has like 74 college degrees. She is also one of the funniest people I have ever met. She lives in Newport News, but I know her heart lies at the NC coast, as she is a pure water baby.
Alternative text: Aubrey Jane Grifith-Zill- was sent to me very very shortly after the day Austin and I started dating. Which is totally weird because I feel like I have known her my whole life. She is a soul sister to the core. Probably the most down to earth, connected to life and positively energetic person I have ever met. We have camped on numerous occasions and cruised along the high seas. She is a beautiful dancer that is so smart for following her passion and dreams and traveling the world to DANCE! Very big role model in my life and knows how to warm your heart in an instant. The second I saw her before we even spoke I knew she was going to be my friend forever. She lives in Hillsborough, NC with her human kitty Richard!
Alternative text: Becky Craig aka Gina (Yes- from the TV sitcom Martinnnn) moved to good old US of A in middle school (from canad-ia) and we immediately gravitated toward each other. Over the years we have done pretty much everything together. I got to be present at the birth of her son, Landon, which is something I will never forget and was so extremely blessed to be a part of I cannot even explain in words. Landon definitely has his mother’s humor! Gina and I will grow old together, sitting in rocking chairs, sipping wine and talking about the good ole days. We are mostly beach bums, but have had the occasional road trips to NYC, cruise to the Bahamas or spring break in Cancun. She is my tarheel partner in crime, and I can officially say I think Landon yells louder than we do, which means we've done our jobs well. Gina lives in Southern Village and works as a nanny for 85 children a day.
Alternative text: Caity Osborn Cornelis (also Gina- can be quiet confusing) has also recently popped a little baby girl out of the oven, Margo!! I actually knew Cate in middle school but we didn't become close until college. We lived together Freshman and Sophomore year at UNCG. We have written our own lifetime movie starring ourselves, because honestly who doesn't do that?! Caity traveled the world studying architecture including building ice sculptures in Finland with Yoko Ono, where she got to know her now husband and also architect, Stefan. I was able to travel to Belgium for their wedding which was unbelievable and totally unforgettable as well as celebrate state side in Beaufort, NC. I owe a lot of my growth as a human being to Caity, in being there for me and supporting me and always being brutally honest whenever I needed it the most. I would certainly not be the same person without her. Caity, Stef and Margo now live in Cincinnati, OH.
Alternative text: Dani Green- I met Dani at the beginning of the best summer of my life, hands down. We lived in the Outer Banks at Pelican Shores for 4 month’s right on the water. There are so many memories that helped shape who I am today, however most of them I will not share . Dani lives in Newport News, VA where for several years I would drive to on the weekends straight from work and stay as long as I could. I also got to live with her in the last month of her pregnancy and then be in the hospital with her for the birth of her son Peyton, who is so immensely beautiful and talented. The two of them together is enough to make your heart melt. I love them so dearly. Dani is a very strong woman with a big heart and funny as a whip. You can pretty much guarantee when we are together something crazy will happen, like running out of gas, dancing till our feet fall off, sleeping through the daylight or getting lost in a third world country. She still lives in Newport News and should probably come to NC instead.
Alternative text: Erricca W DeGraffenreidt was my partner in crime at my first job out of college at the UNC genetics department. Without her my experience would have been completely different. Erricca has the BEST laugh I have EVER heard and the most adorable family on the planet. If you ever need advice, shoulder to cry on or a good laugh, call this lady. She also, ON TOP of her full time job, started her own graphic design business, (named after her daughter) My J'Marie, doing all things BUSINESS BRANDING & WEDDING! I don't know how she sleeps. Alternative text: Hediyyah Narula Knox- aka Hedi and I also have a beautiful past where she has seen my many phases. We liked to get into trouble together in highschool but of course eventually grew out of that ;) Then we lived together while at college at UNC Greensboro. Hedi had her first son, Ayden, in Greensboro and managed to outsmart all of us by staying for Grad school at UNCG. She is smart as a whip and one of the strongest human beings I have ever met. I look up to her perseverance and strength. I was also able to be at the birth of her second child, Londyn, who is such a doll baby! Besides being threatened for my life for not sneaking in a cheeseburger an hour before she gave birth, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. Alternative text: Jenny Scepanski Farrell- Recently got married in June to Matt, a State fan (which I still have not forgiven you for :)). Jenny and I went to high school together and loved being overly-dorky teenagers together! We became much closer after college when we worked together in Chapel Hill. I am so fortunate to have had her close by in the years that I did. We've had similar experiences through life including feeling the pull of things elsewhere in the world and the passion to help people. We have embarked to her home away from home, Charleston, SC and of course the beach and the mountains, and most recently Nashville, TN! I am so excited to grow old with this lady and know we will always be friends. Jenny is a nurse at UNC and currently lives in Raleigh with Matt.
Alternative text: Kathleen Wiggins Carr aka Wifey, has seen me in many different phases of my life up close and personal- and still loves me all the same. We met when I had nowhere else to go, literally I showed up on her doorstep. We lived together in the OBX after college delaying the real world as long as possible. We promptly retired from our “grown up” jobs together to move to Australia for 6 months. I was there the night she meet her now husband Martin (which we have the same birthday and causes for some great arguments). I will forever and always consider both their families part of mine. I was lucky enough to be able to travel with them together and stay with Martin's family in Australia and Europe! Kathleen and I have also backpacked a circle around Europe creating memories of a lifetime. She now lives in San Diego, CA and has recently delivered her second baby, Zachary, little brother to Ellie!

Despite living in different states OUR ENTIRE LIVES, except for maybe one summer, we have managed to keep a very tight relationship. We celebrated her marriage to Phil last summer, which was amazing! We have also ventured through Europe together and try to make it to the coast at least once a year with the family. Kathryn and Phil live in Findlay, Ohio, where she has her first very own art studio. In this studio she works on her pieces for her own business PetPecasso! AND they are freaking awesome!! Obviously I'm a little bias but I think my Irish twin is the greatest!
Alternative text: Maddie Hayes also grew up in NC and actually was in the same year as my brother Shannon. Later on we reconnected through Austin. Maddie has opened doors in my life that I didn't know existed. My mind, my heart, my soul. I have learned a great deal from her and still do and very much look forward to what our friendship has to offer in the coming years. We have a lot of mutual friends from growing up in the same town so it’s like we’ve been together forever! She has passion and ambition like I have never seen. Oh and did I mention she can cook anything (and its healthy), make almost anything from less than 4 ingredients, dance like a bird, sing like a pro, workout like a hauss, create any craft she can think of, run a non-profit with her eyes closed, and beat ANYONE in a debate! She lives in Carrboro 1.5 miles from my house in Carrboro, NC, with her honey Nato and two awesome kitties; Primrose and Finnigan.
Alternative text: Mallorie Keeley- MAL, mal, mal, Dorie, Linda, Stteveee, ALLeeen. We met at Kalisher in Carrboro, where we used to work together. She can paint anything!!! Including beautiful Ramsey's on a wine glass! Mal and I play volleyball together and I can’t tell you how amazing it has been to have her as a part of my volleyball life. We have a very close family through volleyball that we share a wonderful connection which we will have forever. She has transplanted here from VA Beach and unfortunately loves the ECU pirates way too much. I suppose I can forgive her because she's the sweetest pea in the pod. Mal is starting up her own design company as well as designing labels for Mystery Brewing in Hillsborough, so cool! She lives in Raleigh with her sweet baby-doll Darla (or the Der).
Alternative text: Moriah McCall Swick is Austin’s older sister, who I have "known" since we were born. I lost her and Austin for a few years in between but re-met her at Shakori Music Festival, where we have forever claimed the awesomest RV camping spot for ever and ever. She is a very talented artist of many trades. Some of those many trades including Murals, Paintings, Jewelry, face painting, furniture, and on and on. My favorite is the Where the while things are nursery mural that she did for her son. It's unreal. She lives in Durham, with her husband Lance, and has just recently had a beautiful, sweet little baby boy Sidney Lyle Swick! Our first nephew! She has a very huge heart and I cannot wait to call her my big sister.
Alternative text: Savanna McCall- is Austin's younger sister, who will most likely be a Vet, a doctor, design fashion, Miss USA, and a shark conservationist when she grows up. Oh yeah and a killer artist. She will be starting her second year at App state and just moved into her first apartment in Boone. Before starting school she traveled abroad to Fiji to study Sharks! That smile also may just melt your heart.

She lives in Asheville, NC with her honey, Brian, and has started her own business, Chipley Consulting, that is amazing and thriving! When we first met I told her she was going to take over the world... And be president one day. She is super-duper athletic and I had my first bouldering experience with her and Brian this year which was oh so fabulous! I know if I ever need anything in the world she is always there for me, and likewise I would do anything for her!

She also had my buddy pass (for flying) for a year so she flew to visit me often, I think one of those favorite times of mine was our trip to NYC! She now lives in Raleigh, recently back from up north where she was a teacher, now working as a fire fighter and waitress. Smith is the best listener and supporter I know. On top of that is a sugar coasted sweetheart that is always willing to go above and beyond to help anyone!

She has possibly got the most beautiful and perfectly white gleaming smile I have ever seen, and she definitely knows how to share it when you're having a bad day. We are avid music followers and her and her husband David are always up for a good dance. We have bathed in the sun at the coast, doing what we do best and I can't wait to continue that tradition forever. She lives in Mebane, NC with David and 4 furbabies- Fudge Brownie, Cinnamon Sugar, Cupcake Surprise and Hot Chocolate, and one cat, Moonshine!.. and there ain't a craft in the world she can't tackle!
Alternative text: Ashley Lauren Strokos- aka Awa, and I met at Flight attendant training in TX for American Airlines. She didn't speak to me until the last week :) although quiet and reserved she is very smart, strong, quirky and motivated. She was always overly nice to her passengers and has and awesomely hysterical side. We have traveled allllll over the place; Bahamas, Hawaii, Honduras, TX, NC, lived in NYC and Chicago together. She is absolutely my Shakori partner in crime, camping in the mud and rain with a smile on her face. And then of course there is our trip to Senegal, Africa that changed my life forever. They named us Adama and Awa Cisshoko, which are twin names in Senegal! Talk about seeing my many sides, she has definitely been my anchor many times in the past few years. She has currently resigned from flying and lives in far off Austin, TX.
